Anti Global Warming
There are politicians who are outright anti-environment – they do not subscribe to the argument.
While they state their case clearly and honestly we can at least respect their right to their opinion, but ill-informed it may be. Others, however, took the deceit, crafting back-room of trafficking who are a negative for the environment, but then try to sell the public on the new regulations by claiming they are improving the environment. We believe that this is a clear hypocrisy of the environment and can be described as "Listen I say, but do Watch what I do. "
Let's go through some examples.
In campaign speeches before the 2000 elections, George W. Bush has promised to do something about global warming if elected president. The insincerity of the promise has been clearly shortly after taking office when he reneged on his promise, saying that joining the Kyoto Protocol would harm the U.S. economy. In fact, do something about global warming would hurt some industries – including the Big Energy and Big Auto, both heavy contributors the Bush campaign. Overall, the global effort to delay the warming will cost us more in the long term. Make a promise to do something about global warming without any intention of keeping the promise it was a form of environmental hypocrisy.
On the history of global warming is the administration in 2003 introduced the Clear Skies Act, a law aimed at back the regulations associated with the Clean Air Act and help the electrical industry avoid fines and future costs associated with improving of pollution controls on old dirty power plants. If the administration has tried to justify their plan on the basis of our air being "too clean" and energy companies in the United States of being "too poor" – and, consequently, air quality regulations necessary flexibility – they have not gone very far in the public forum.
So, Instead, they designed a program name greenwashed – "The Clear Skies Act "- and tried to use the euphemistic name as a shield against public disapproval of their actions. In addition, administration said the public system they would improve air quality in the future, which was true, but they conveniently left aside the fact that their plan would improve LESS air quality than would the existing provisions of the Clean Air Act. Indeed, while the administration Bush said that they do the right thing on climate change, they have pursued policies that actually caused higher emissions of greenhouse gases emissions in the United States.
In addition, they have done their best to downplay the overwhelming scientific evidence which clearly we know that global warming is a problem, we know that we are the leading cause, and we know that measures must be taken sooner rather than later. They are even went to edit scientific documents in a manner that unfairly changes in scientific advice to be more in tune with the political views administration.
Vice President Cheney and others have used the same dishonest rhetoric when it comes to helping more drilling in the United States, as opposed to conservation measures like fuel economy of vehicles. It is a geological impossibility that the United States can find enough new reserves of domestic oil to meet its growing thirst for fuel vehicles and other petroleum products.
The increase in fuel consumption of vehicles, however, can go a long way to solve the problem. For example, increasing fuel efficiency of all U.S. vehicles by 3 miles per gallon would save as much oil as could be pumped out of the virgin, highly contested in the Arctic National Wildlife Reserve. Cheney knows this, but it is an oil man, and there is no money need to be made by the oil industry with the public burning less of its product. Then he mocks conservation as inappropriate as an essential part of a sensible energy strategy and instead favors the approach he knows can not succeed at something other than to its energy-industry pals even richer.
Given the approach of peak oil, we think this is an instance very dangerous hypocrisy of the environment. We assume that politicians justify positions on the environment or energy issues with arguments that do not reflect reality or real opinions of politicians is not an unusual tactic, but this series of articles is to expose the hypocrisy of the environment on both sides of the aisle.
Those who govern must often take into account the results scientists in their decisions. The appropriate way to do is …
1) let scientists do their work and publish their reports.
2) read reports and digest the facts, and then
3) determine appropriate public policy based on science and other non-scientific factors.
If officials decide that non-scientific factors outweigh the facts of science, they can tell when they announce their policy. Unfortunately, these days there is a dramatic trend towards the elimination and modification of science. Rather than saying that they are substituting science, making a decision policy based on other factors, to the right people appointed by the political wing in the various federal agencies have handled the process Scientific himself inappropriately in a text editing and scientific results, with the ultimate goal to intentionally look science as it supports their political position, even if it does not.
It would be easy for these people to avoid the hypocrisy of the environment such – they just quit playing with science and make their case honestly, politically. But they know they will have less success selling their ideas to the public if their policies are constantly contradicted by scientific facts, so do not try to abandon this practice soon.
